Life Abroad

Being single is often looked at as a cross to carry or burden to bear. Just look at any major holiday and it is largely catering to couples, families etc Well I think with the right perspective being single can be one of the best times of your life!! I mean, just think about it, at no other time in your life will you be able to just get up and go when you please without a +1 to consider or having to locate a babysitter if you’ve had children. No matter your relationship status, or career status, what the scale says etc for that matter, you have got to get out there and enjoy life. One of my personal favorite ways to enjoy life is……: TRAVELING!!!

Whether it is by foot, bike, car, train,or plane. There are many different avenues to get you to where you want to go. Out of those methods; I prefer road trips and planes. You typically come out cheaper doing road trips with the splitting of the cost of gas, food etc. There is also something to be said about the camaraderie built by the long hours together in a car with your family and friends. I’ve had some great conversations during those trips and they always end, for me, feeling closer then before with those I’ve traveled with. Depending on the length of the trip you may fall victim to cabin fever though and become easily annoyed with each other due to the tight spacing and so on.

So enters flying! Love it, love it, love it. For those who have never been on a plane before, this avenue can be a bit pricey so be sure to save up a little longer for these trips. Book your flight in advance and always look for deals. Buy cheap snacks for your trip because airport food can be ridiculously high. Still, it is totally worth it to cut your trip down by a significant amount of time. I’m also a people watcher and love observing strangers, in a non creepish way 🙂. So an airport is like, heaven, half joking. “All people, all nations, all tongues”. That is my very loose transation of Revelation 7:9. I enjoy hearing how peple speak and interact from different places. Cheesy as it may sound,I feel closer to God when I am in the sky. I am also able to see things from a different perspective. A thought I often have when looking down at whatever land or water I’m traveling over is, “Wow, we are so small (because houses look like dots from up there and I can’t even see a human from that high) and the world is so small yet God still cares about us as if we were the only ones alive. We are more ONE than we think.”

Well I hope that you all will do your best to take advantage of your singleness, married life and life in general, in EVERY season, and however life allows. Here’s some quotes from a BuzzFeed article that hopefully will inspire you to travel.
